Yuen Long district is in the north-west New Territories, with the Lok Ma Chau boundary crossing to the north. Yuen Long town centre is a traditional market town; Tin Shui Wai is a new town of mainly public housing; Kam Tin, Pat Heung, Ping Shan and San Tin have many walled villages and rural land; and the Hung Shui Kiu and San Tin areas are planned as new development areas.

How do you get around?

The Tuen Ma Line stops at Kam Sheung Road, Yuen Long, Long Ping and Tin Shui Wai, the Light Rail links Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai and Tuen Mun, and Lok Ma Chau Station on the East Rail Line is in the district. The Tai Lam Tunnel leads to Kowloon and carries many bus routes to town. The rural areas rely on buses, minibuses and cars.
