Prepare for a mandatory window inspection notice
Match a window-inspection notice to the property and windows covered before appointing a qualified person. Where repair is needed, check the contractor's registered scope and supervision arrangements as well as the quoted visit price.

Buildings Department
Prepare for your task
| Task | Information to have ready |
|---|---|
| Notice scope | Record the notice reference, unit or common parts, stated time frame and relevant window locations for checking against the actual notice. |
| Qualified person | Check the appointed qualified person, agreed task and prescribed-inspection arrangements, retaining contact and attendance records. |
| Repair and registered scope | If repair is required, record the work, registered contractor and qualified-person supervision, checking the contractor's permitted classes, types and items. |
| Completion documents | Follow up the applicable specified certificate and submission record with the qualified person, keeping them with the repair scope and completion evidence. |
Scope and arrangements
- The official procedure requires the qualified person to carry out the prescribed inspection personally; photographs or self-measurement do not replace it.
- A minor-works contractor is limited to its registered classes, types and items; one registration does not establish suitability for every window-repair task.
