Measure furniture delivery through doors, turns and the installation space

Record furniture, packaging and route dimensions separately. Door width is one part of the question; turns, lifts and dismantling also need the delivery provider's assessment.

Read dimensions together with the complete route

Get dimensions and the delivery configuration for the actual model before measuring the route. Assembled, dismantled and packaged deliveries can require different space; another model's measurements are not a substitute.

Record clear door openings, corridor turns, lifts and the destination space. Label measurement positions and units on the accompanying record so the delivery provider knows whether a figure describes a frame, door leaf or clear opening.

Keep these dimensions separate

Provide measurements for assessment rather than treating one width as proof that delivery will succeed.

Example: the sofa and its carton differ

The sofa is narrower than its packaging. Ask the provider how it will be carried and where unpacking is allowed, then assess the route against that configuration instead of only the product-page dimensions.

Check before ordering and delivery

  • Model, packaging and component details
  • Measurement locations along the route
  • Provider's response to the route
