Check stairs, vehicle access and entrances before a move

Trace the route from the vehicle stopping point through the building and into the home. A segment-by-segment record explains more than the floor number alone.

Walk the route from vehicle to home

Walk the actual departure and arrival routes. Check the planned stopping point, entrance steps and large-item clearance. A straight line on a map does not describe the carrying route through a building.

Divide it into vehicle-to-entrance, entrance-to-lift and lift-to-flat segments. Label photographs with their location and show turns or narrow points. Confirm permission to use the relevant entrances with building management.

Record each route segment

Include units and measurement locations. The outside width of a frame is different from the clear opening.

Example: steps on the same floor

The lift reaches the correct floor, but several steps remain along the corridor. 'Lift available' misses that segment. Include its location and the large-item route so the mover can respond with an appropriate plan.
