Prepare a land-document copy request
Identify the document and memorial reference in the land register before ordering a deed, registered tenancy or other land-document copy. Check whether the recipient needs a plain or certified copy and which retrieval method applies.

Land Registry
Prepare for your task
| Task | Information to have ready |
|---|---|
| Document and memorial reference | Check the document name, memorial reference and registration particulars against the register, rather than ordering solely from an informal transaction description. |
| Plain or certified copy | Confirm the recipient's required document form before selecting a plain or certified copy. Certification of the record does not establish that the property is free of issues. |
| Plans and attachments | For a floor plan, check whether it is attached to a registered document, keeping that request distinct from BD plans or separately deposited plans. |
| Receipt and records | Check the selected service's charge, delivery method and document format, then match the received copy to the requested document and reference while retaining the order record. |
Scope and arrangements
- Availability of a tenancy copy depends on whether the document was registered; not every tenancy agreement is held in the system.
- Documents identified by an Action Number in property remarks differ from statutory registration records; the official FAQ specifies a separate enquiry route.
